Honors
Dean’s List
Each semester, students who achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 are honored as members of the Dean’s list for that semester. I have been a Dean’s List recipient every single semester so far during my time at W&J.
Alpha Scholar
Every year, students who maintain a 3.85 cumulative GPA or higher are recognized as Alpha Scholars at the beginning of each academic year. I have been recognized as an Alpha Scholar for my freshman and sophomore years, and I anticipate being honored for my grades as a junior at the beginning of my senior year.
Physics Club
During my freshman year of college, I was a member of W&J’s physics club. Although I was not explicitly a physics major, people interested in mathematics were encouraged to join the club. Each year, everyone in the physics club would practice for and eventually take the Putnam, which is a challenging mathematics exam designed for undergraduate students. We also participated in some fun activities around campus, including creating pumpkin launchers for Halloween.
Washington Fellows
The Washington Fellows is an honors society that is unique to Washington & Jefferson college. Students who excelled academically in High School are invited to the Fellows. Fellows are required to maintain a high GPA throughout their collegiate career as well as engage in the community, either through volunteering or running events for the students. I was a member of this organization during my freshman year.
Each semester, the fellows organize a variety of events around campus, including dances, fundraisers, etc. Fellows are also encouraged to take part in academic activities, including visits to museums.
Alpha Lambda Delta Society

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honors society that has a chapter at Washington & Jefferson college. Like the Washington Fellows, students who maintain a high GPA and volunteer in the community are invited to the organization. I have been a member of the ALD since my sophomore year.
Each semester, students in ALD must attend at least one meeting for the organization and participate in at least one hour of community service. Opportunities for community service include bake sales, volunteering at animal shelters, organizing events on campus, etc.
Pi Mu Epsilon Honors Society

Pi Mu Epsilon is a national Mathematics honors society for Mathematics that also has at chapter at W&J. Students who excel in a variety of math classes are invited to this organization. I was inducted as a member of PME during my junior year.
Students in PME are encouraged to conduct research outside of the classroom at least once a year. Students who conduct research can present their research at Mathematical conferences and have their papers posted to the PME journal. The three students with the best papers posted into the PME journal for a given year are awarded with cash prizes.
Steinberg Scholarship Recipient
The David and Kristin Steinberg Scholarship is offered each year to one CIS student who has taken at least four classes, with preference given to sophomore and junior students. This award is given to the student who writes the best essay about how a project from a 200-level class or higher aided in my development as a CIS student. I was presented with this award at the end of my junior year.
